Congratulations to team Tried & True for wining the
Beneteau 36.7 section during the Colors Regatta hosted by Columbia Yacht
Club.The Ben 36.7 section had 10
registered participants with 9 attending 1 or both days.
Competition in the class started back up where it left off
last fall after the North American Championships help in Chicago, with tight
racing.Mark roundings were typically
crowded with near all 36.7 getting there within seconds of each other. You had to have a good plan and pay close
attention to the shifts.
With rain and very cold weather on Saturday most
participants talked about how miserable the weather was, but Sunday turned
everyone’s sprits around with a perfect sunny day.The winds were light to moderate both days
blowing out of the North keeping it “cooler near the lake”.
The Colors Regatta has established itself as a great regatta
in Chicago and a perfect tune-up for the NOOD Regatta.Despite some difficult weather Columbia did a
great job putting together 4 races during the 2 day event. They also provided after race entertainment,
free pour and dinner.
